Outer Manipur poll begins

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 11, 2019: The Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will go on poll today begining at 7am till 4pm.
“Most of the polling parties have dispersed from district head quarters. Out of 1562 polling stations of the Outer Manipur there are 88 P-3 polling stations for which the polling parties had left three days ahead of the polling. Another 256 are p-2 polling stations for which the polling party had left two days ahead of the polling. We have some polling stations especially in Jiribam for which the polling parties have to travel by boat. They must have reached their respective polling stations” ,said Joint CEO Ramananda Nongmeikapam.
Total number of electors for Outer Manipur is 1010618. Of this 495583 are males and 515022 are females. Number of service electors is 11347 including 313 females.
Ramananda said,”We will be providing facitilities to pick up and drop the visually impaired and disabled people among others for the polling.”
A total of 3176 persons with disabilities are in the list of voters.
There are 283 numbers of critical polling stations and 225 numbers of vulnerable polling stations. Webcasting will be done where ever possible in critical areas and additional micro observers will be deployed in vulnerable areas, Ramananda said.
“We have deployed 90 companies of central paramilitary forces and police armed forces in the Outer Manipur constituency,” he added.
A helicopter is arranged to use for emergency services.
Three control rooms were set up at the chief electoral office to track locations of EVMs, to report poll percentage every two hours and to report malpractices and malfunctioning of EVM.
