Police operation against bomb threats

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 26, 2019: Following several bomb blasts and bomb threats Imphal West district police today conducted cordon and search operation at different locations of Imphal.
Imphal West district commando and team of City Police conducted search operations in Thangal Bazar area, at M.G. Avenue, Majorkhul, Kalibari and Hotel Nongin. The operations were conducted from 4.50 pm till 5.40 pm.
During the operations about 325 persons were verified out of which 14 persons who failed to produce their identification documents were detained and handed over to City police station for further verification.
It may be mentioned that several bomb have been found planted at Catholic schools, and blasted in congested area of the city.
Though with the timely police action most of the bomb were failed to explode but one person was injured with the twin grenade blast recently at Khuman Lampak road near Manipur Mountaineering Trekking Association on Monday last.
The recent bomb attack and threats including twin grenade blast at Khuman Lampak road and bomb plant at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai are yet to be claimed.
But the bomb plant at Little Flower School on Monday last was claimed by proscribed underground group Kangleipak Communist Party- Military Council.
Another of Imphal West police comprising of women police, reserve line, narcotics team and district commandos conducted search operation at Kwakeithel Moirangpural.
The operation was conducted from 3.45 am to 5.30 am. During the operation around 450 persons including 260 males and 190 females were verified. Two bail-outs (one KCP and one PLA) were picked up for verification and handed over to Singjamei Police station.
