Two NRFM members arrested

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 30, 2019: Two members of National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM) from their residences in Imphal East and West.

They were identified as Nongthongbam Lakhen singh, 45 son of N. Nodiya singh of Ghari Makha Leikai and Heikrujam Joychand alias James Singh 43 son of (L) H. Gulamchand Singh of Lamlai Awang Leikai.

Following a reliable information received from 15AR and further corroborated from state police sources about the presence of some active members of NRFM in and around Ghari Makha Leikai area , teams of Imphal West police commando arrested Lakhen singh. On spot verification, he revealed that he is an active member of NRFM working under the command of self-styled general secretary cum home secretary Thangjam Dhabalo singh alias Macha of Nongren Makha Leikai presently staying at Bangladesh, a police source said.

He further disclosed that his commander had instructed him that he would send one associate of NRFM to assist him in hurling hand grenade at goverment officials and pharmacies of Imphal area. He was arrested from his residence at 8 am, it added.

Joychand was arrested from his residence at 10: 30 am by a combined team of Imphal West commando and a column of 15 AR.

He is presently  working under the command Dabal. He disclosed that he extorted huge amount of money from general public and recently his commander instructed him to serve demand letters to various government officials, businessman of Imphal area, the source said.
