Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 13, 2019: North East India Development Party (NEIDP) has refuted chief minister N.Biren Singh’s statement that no regional party will be able to come up in north east India.
State president of NEIDP, Ng. Bijoy in a press conference held yesterday at the party office in Imphal said political freedom could be enjoyed only if regional party comes to power. The chief minister seems that he doesn’t realise the power of regionalism, he added.
NEIDP will get its political right from the centre by making a political party force.
Bijoy said since independence many regional political parties have been established and chief minister must have the knowledge of the needs of regional party. The party strongly condemned the statement of Biren as it seems he stated without having proper knowledge of regionalism, he added.
In the mainland state regional political parties have been replacing national political parties to strengthen the voice of people. National parties have been failing to redress the grievances of people, hence regional parties have been established, Bijoy said.
The issue of Manipur University last long for more than three months could have been easily solved if the state was ruled by a regional political party, he said. Bijoy alleged that state failed to solve the issue due the pressure from the national political leaders.
If regional party does not redress the grievances of the people, state will fail to bring economic growth and development, he added.
NEIDP candidate in the Lok Sabha election, R.K. Anand said the country has been ruling by national political parties since independence and its power have been deteriorating. The reason might be due to failure of redressing the grievances of the people to bring development, he added.
Time has cone to strengthen regional parties, Anand said.
