Sugarcane juicer cart in classroom

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 21, 2019: A sugarcane juicer cart installed with a machine was found inside a classroom of Dameswari Primary School, Konung Mamang Nongmeibung, Imphal East during an inspection drive by Students Union of Kangleipak (SUK) yesterday.
The school authority failed toidentify the owner of the juicer cart.
The school has a total strength of 11 teachers out of which six are regular teachers and five are utilized teachers. But as most of the students were from muslim community less attendance was found.
The student body conducted school inspection at three government schools in city area including this school.
Irregularities of students’ attendance and misusing of school property were found during the drive.
During the drive conducted by the student body which was led by president of SUK Dhanakumar Ningthouja, piling of garbage was found at Shyamasakhi High School, Moirangkhom, Imphal West. Garbage was found piled in front of the school and on northern campus of the school.
Headmaster in charge of the school, B. Meghabarna Sharma said piling of garbage on the northern side of the school is due to untimely renovation of school fencing. He said the school has total student strength of 26 students, 7 regular teachers and 5 utilised teachers.
Thirteen students have appeared in the recent HSLC examination and one student was passed in second division.
Meghabarna said to bring fame for the school he sent the students who appeared the recent HSLC examination for private tuition by spending from his own pocket.
The school authority have submitted a complaint to Imphal Municipal Corporation on July 26 last year to clean up the garbage pilled in front of the school as it is unhygienic to the students and could be health hazardous. Since the submission of complain no action had been taken by IMC in order to clean the garbage.
While inspecting Ramjee Junior High School (AIDED), Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal not students attendance record were found since May 13.
One of the teachers said most of the students are from muslim community and due to their present community festival students failed to attend school. The teacher urged the government to look after the infrastructure of the school campus. One inspection government team came recently but despite of looking after the whole infrastructure the team inspect school toilet.
Dhanakumar said the student body has started inspecting infrastructure of government schools to bring good quality education. During the inspection unusual scenario were found which shows that government overlook government schools located at city area. He said government should take necessary measures to promote government schools. If the government fails to meet the grievances of government schools the student body would take intensice steps, he added.
