Manipur Students to participate International Convention SPIC-MACAY

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 29, 2019: A team of 25 students were flagged off today by Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla to the 7th International Convention SPIC-MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), from Raj Bhavan, Imphal.

The international convention will be held from June 3 till 9, 2019 at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Delhi as a part of the university’s Golden Jubilee Year celebration.

The team includes the students from Assam Rifles Public School, Keithelmanbi, Assam Rifles Public School, Mantripukhri, Assam Rifles Middle School, Phundrei and a team of artist will take part in the convention.

Interacting with the participants, Heptulla said that the programme is a kind of adventure for the students where they will get an opportunity for exposure to learn the different cultures of the country and other parts of the world. She also said that Manipur has its own unique art and culture and we should be proud of it. Wishing the team to have a successful trip, she invited the team to share their experiences at the international convention.

The international convention is culmination of SPIC-MACAY’S year-long programme conducted all over the country and abroad. It is an annual congregation of youths from across the country and abroad in which concerts by leading exponents of Indian classical music, folk performances, theatre, yoga and many other activities related to India are showcased.
