Plea not to publish uncooked reports

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 2, 2019: In connection with the murder of eminent fashion designer Robert Naorem’s mother Rekha, Robert today appealed the state media not to publish uncooked news item before confirming the actual facts.
He said such publication may bring adverse impact to the victim family.
Robert was interacting with reporters in a press conference today at his residence at Singjamei Thokchom Leikai, Imphal West.
He said the family have been going through greave and sorrow with the loss of Rekha. Wiithout proper evidence most of the media are publishing uncooked news which might bring adverse impact to one’s life.
Rekha was allegedly bludgeoned to death at her residence on May 29.
In connection with the incident police arrested Dijamani as prime suspect on May 31 at about 5.30 pm.
Dijamani was brought in front of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West yesterday. He was remanded for 10 days in police custody for further examination in order to solve the case and to find out the accused.
Earlier in police statement, Dijamani on examination has been making many inconsistent statement and not been also able to justify many suspicious circumstances that could cause crime on that day.
Robert further said according to law suspected persons go through examinations. Without proper report from the family the media of the state are publishing the news of the incident at various angles. In order to get actual report a journalist should take genuine report instead of taking uncooked news from a third party, he added.
He said media need to have patience before publishing any news related with the incident which investigation is still under process.
The body (of Rekha) will recieved tomorrow to perform her last rite, Robert said.
