Bomb threats at two places

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 6, 2019: Two improvised explosive device (IED) were found at two different places in Imphal East district in two consecutive days.
One IED was found yesterday near the residence of Yumnam Dinesh Singh,54 , son of late Y. Sarat Singh who is a special class contractor of Khurai Thoudam Leikai near NRL Oil Pump.


Police said on receiving the information a team of district police rushed to the spot to take up security measures. Later a bomb expert team picked up the bomb and disposed at safe place.

Another IED was also found planted at the campus of Priest Home (former father’s home) located at Mantripukhri Lamlongei, Imphal East. Police said the bomb was found by locals at about 6 am and they informed district police.

District police team accompanied by bomb expert team reached the spot and picked up the explosive device at about 7.10 am which was later disposed at a safe place.

District commandos including women police conduct house to house search operation today in and around Mercylane, Mantripukhri Imphal East in connection with the bombs found yesterday and today.

During the operation a total of about 120 houses including rented houses were searched and verified from 4pm to 5.10pm, but no individuals were detained.

The operation was led by district deputy superintendent of police (OPS)accompanied by women police.

No organisation had so far claimed responsible for the bombs planted at two different locations.
