WY worth Rs 1.5 crore seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 24, 2019: Imphal East Police commando team on Monday arrested a drug peddler who ferried drug (390 suspected WY packets)     in a red car at Telipati near Kalimai Mandir.
The drug peddler has been identified as Gandhi Kalidas Debar alias Das, 29, son of late Munithan Sandhi of Moreh Ward No. 5.The team recovered one mobile phone bearing IMEI no. 861117032570673 and 861117032570665 along with one Vodafone SIM card having number 9774162695 and one wallet containing Rs.1000 with a Pan card.
The vehicke was transporting the drug was a Swift car bearing registration number WB-20AG/1894.

Superintendent of Police, Imphal east Haobijam Jogeshchandra  told the reporters that a team of Imphal east commando while conducting random frisking and checking around Minuthong area arrested the drug peddler along with the contraband drugs after chasing the vehicle from Minuthong to Telipati.

The drug peddler revealed that the recovered suspected WY tablets were handed over to him by one unknown person from Mayanmar where he was instructed to hand over the same to another person at Guwahati said Jogeshchandra.

Informing that the frisking was a part of the drive undertaken under Campaign against drugs and no drugs, he also appealed the masses to support the campaign taken up by Imphal east police. The suspected WY tablets is valued to be 1.5 Crore approximately in the international market, he added.

He also said that further investigation is going on to arrest the individual in Guwahati where the contrabands are reported to be delivered.
