MLA Susindro announces to resign

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 7, 2019: Khurai Assembly Constituency representative Leishangthem Susindro on Saturday declared that he will resign as MLA by Monday.
He made his declaration during a public meeting held at Khurai Lamlong Bazar, Imphal East in connection with the bomb blast nearby the residence of Susindro who is also the chairman of of Loktak Development Authority and Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited.
“People elected me as representative of Khurai constituency and have been doing various development works for the welfare of the constituency. If people are not satisfied and feels hesitant to support the development works then I will submit resignation letter on Monday,” Susindro said in the meeting.
The public meeting was jointly organised by Co-Ordinating Body, Khurai, Lamlong Keithel Phambi Nupi Lup, Khurai, and Apunba Nupi Lup, Khurai.
Yaima said he joined politics sacrifice his youthful and has been giving effort to reduce poverty in the constituency by conducting various development works and has been demanding to get maximum benefit to the government for the welfare of the people of the constituency.
Most of the people are not getting PDS (public distribution system) rice. Recalling the moment of January 2, he requested CAF and PD minister, Karam Shyam to distribute rice to the beneficiaries which has been pending for 7 months during an occasion held in the constituency. Responding to the request of Susindro, Shyam said the rice share of the constituency has been given, he added.
Later on June 19 the MLA filed an FIR against the transport contractor that the pending in distribution of rice is due to the failure of transport and to take action against them. Since the FIR was lodged no action has been taken yet, Susindro said.
He said in some local dailies transport contractor further alleged that distribution was not done in time due to the failure of depositing money for rice which is to be distributed under National Food Security Act.
He said the allegation is baseless as no information was given to him in connection with the issue.
If public have suspicion on his effort to bring welfare and do not want support he is ready to resign from being MLA of the constituency. The political party where he belongs have doubt on his effort or want to change another member then he will accept for his resignation on coming Monday, he announced.
He appealed not to repeat such incident which had happened on Wednesday last.
He alleged transporters that people cannot get proper benefit on rice due to failure in duty of transporters.
After the MLA announced for his resignation people of the constituency start burning tyres at Lamlong Bazar junction denouncing the resignation of Yaima from MLA. People blocked Khurai road for a moment against the announcement.
President of BJP Khurai block women’s wing, Thongbam Chaoba said MLA, Susindro was invited in the public meeting to express his feelings in connection with the Wednesday blast.
She said Susindro was elected by the people of the constituency and people will not let him resign. BJP women’s wing and people of the constituency will stand for Susindro and will face any threat for him, she added.
Later the agitators marched a rally towards chief minister’s office to submit a memorandum demanding to punish the culprit and to start investigation through National Investigative Agency (NIA).
Chief minister, N. Biren had mentioned earlier on Wednesday while inspecting the blast site that the the culprit will booked at the earliest and the case will be handed over to NIA.
