Wanted tag to escaped NSCN-IM cadre

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 11, 2019: Manipur Police has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who provides information, regarding the whereabouts of an escaped NSCN (I-M) cadre, which may lead to his re-arrest.
The militant was Thailik Panmei, 23, son of Paolumlung Panmei of Taoshang Village, Khoupum sub-division, Noney district. He was escaped from Imphal Police station lock-up in the early morning of Wednesday. Imphal West District police have taken up stringent actions and steps in order to nab escaped militant, said a press statement from Manipur police.
Thailik Panmei is a cadre of NSCN-IM who was arrested in connection with case FIR no.23 (07) 2019 Nungba PS U/S 400 IPC and 23 (1-C) Arms Act. The district police, Imphal West is carrying out intensive search operations to re-arrest the escapee, it added.
The state police appeal the general public to provide information regarding the whereabouts of the escapee which may lead to his re-arrest while announcing the reward. It provided phone numbers to provide information regarding the whereabouts of the escapee.
The phone numbers were listed as for SP, Imphal West at 9612759705 or 7005863866; additional SP (LO), Imphal West at 9856100314 or 7005606171; and additional SP (OPs), Imphal West at 9612007472 or 7005725450. It was assured that the identity of the informer(s) will be kept confidential.
Two SIs, one ASI and one head constable have been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty while three VDF personnel have also been dis-engaged for dereliction of duty. A DIG level officer has been entrusted to enquire into the incident of the escape. the release said.
