IMC gets an administrator

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 17, 2019: State has appointed Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) to continue routine work of the municipal council after it was suspended for misappropriation of funds.

MAHUD (Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development) mnister Thounaojam Shyamkumar on Tuesday announced the appointment of Ksh. Lemba Singh, joint secretary, MAHUD as the new administrator.

The announcement came a day after IMC was suspended for a period of six months citing various irregularities.

Shyamkumar told reporters that legal action will be taken against the shop and building owners located within the purview of the IMC who are defying the guidelines. The shop owners, including small shops are advised to get the required approval within the three days time and follow the guidelines of the IMC, he added.

He said there is ban on the buildings located within the IMC areas defying the IMC guidelines such as lack of fire extinguisher and waste bins. There is also ban on buildings where prior approval is not sought from IMC for construction, illegal construction between two shops, blocked drainage, non-payment of annual fees to IMC and not possessing shop licence, he added.

The parking lots without proper documents are directed to register themselves by Wednesday  and those who posses necessary documents but without proper administrative approval will be discussed by the officials of the IMC, the minister said.

He said the move is required to keep the Imphal city green and clean.
