Drugs and contrabands worth Rs 21 lakhs seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 20, 2019: Assam Rifles battalions seized contraband items and IMFL worth more than  Rs 21 lakhs in different operations conducted between July 13 and 17 in Manipur, Nagaland Mizoram and Tripura.

On July 13, based on specific input, regarding smuggling of drugs and contrabands, a team of Assam Rifles and Moreh Police seized 3360 tablet of  WY (World is Yours) worth more than Rs 10 Lakh from a Myanmarese national identified as  Wonna, 44, near H Lhangcham village near Moreh, said a press statement released from the Assam Rifles

On Jul 14, a spot check of vehicles by AR team led to the recovery of 1397 bottles of IMFL from  Tuli village in Mokokchung district. In the intervening period large quantity of contraband items including Heroin and Ganja were also recovered by AR  units in Mizoram and Tripura, it said

All  apprehended persons and  recovered items have been handed over to state excise department  and police for further investigations. AR battalions have resolved  to prevent smuggling of contraband items  and IMFL in order to  prevent the youth of the region from digressing on the path of drug abuse, it added.
