AMSU lambasts home department

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 26, 2019: Home department be ashamed for taking much time in investigating the “mysterious” death of Nongmaithem Babysana Chanu, it could not be much difficult to solve the case if department of home department takes it seriously.
It was said by secretary general of All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Bipenchandra Ahenthem in a press conference held at its office in Imphal.
He said in connection with the mysterious death of Babysana parents and guardians of hostellers of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur along with AMSU and local meira paibi conducted a joint meeting at the Khunthokhanbi temple hall.
He said the joint meeting unanimously resolved seven points resolution against the death of Babysana.
The first resolution was that Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School authority must disclose rules and regulation of its boarding including the facilities provided to the hostellers, security concern, protection, health care for the hostellers, fooding and others provided to the hostellers.
It was also resolved that parents or guardians must give cooperation to concern investigating agencies during the course of investigation against the mysterious death of Babysana and no students will be allowed in the hostel of the school till the culprits are arrested.
Government must implement Manipur Private School (registration and regulation) Act, 2017, said the student leader.
Government must give strict instruction to all the private schools in the State to implement the guidelines given by Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), he added.
He said people should support each steps taken by JAC against the mysterious death of N. Babysana Chanu and Joint Students’ Coordination Committee (JSCC) to get justice for Babysana.
Bipinchandra said as per resolution taken in the meeting, dress, books and other belongings of hostellers of the school will be collected on 11 am of July 27 by the respective guardians or parents of the hostellers.
He further said as the government assured to handover the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), government must urge the agency for speedy investigation to bring the mystery into light.
Chief minister, N. Biren has approved to hand over the case of Babysana to CBI and the proposal will be sent to CBI through chief secretary.
Police said second autopsy of Ningthoujam Babysana Chanu will be conducted on Friday.
