Leaders pour message on Manipur Patriots Day

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 12, 2019: Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla, chief minister N. Biren Singh and ministers has poured message to the people on the eve of Manipur Patriots Day.
Heptulla in her message conveyed her best wishes to the people of Manipur. She said this day reminds of the heroic forefathers like Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General, Chirai Naga, Pukhrambam Kajao, Niranjan Subedar and host of martyrs who sacrificed for the cause of freedom.
“Let us while observing the Patriot’s Day, pledge to stand and fight as one against all those who challenge the freedom and integrity of the nation,” Heptulla said.
Biren in his message said, “Patriot’s Day reminds us of the supreme sacrifices made by our forefathers in defending the sovereignty of Manipur in the Anglo-Manipur War in 1891. We should take a pledge to stand as one people to protect Manipur and prevent fragmentation of the state on community lines.”
The Patriot’s Day will be observed on Tuesday at different sites. Floral Tributes will be paid at Hicham Yaicham Pat (Moirangkhom), and at the Complex of Thangal General Temple, Palace Compound in the morning.
In the evening wreaths will be laid to the Martyrs at Kangla Uttra. It will be followed by paying floral tributes at Shaheed Minar with general salute by the contingent of Manipur rifles.
The government has given strict instructions to all heads of departments and other officials of the Manipur government to attend the function.
