Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 13, 2019: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh drew the attention of all concern and people over the existence of Rohingya in the state citing the arrest of six Rhohingya from Imphal Airport on Sunday.
The already sinking Manipuri will sink before 20-30 years from now if the cause of the existence of Rohingya in the state is not traced, the chief minister said.
“They (Rohingya) look like us, but have different language. There may be many taking shelter in the state. Who is inviting them and giving shelter? Why are they invited? Where are they sheltered in Manipur? Who is trying to make us a minority group? Who is behind all this? This is the issue of Manipur. All the communities of the state need to come together and discuss over the issue to save Manipuri from sinking,” Biren said.
Biren was addressing on the occasion of Patriot’s Day observation held at BJP office in Imphal on Tuesday. Floral tributes were paid to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General.
“On this day of remembering our forefather who sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom we should pay tribute to them with tears in our eyes. We will not be successful in any deal if we fail to love the motherland. Whoever it is, be it politicians or social workers or government employees, all need to have the feeling of love towards the society”, the chief minister said.
Manipur was colonised due to difference of opinions, envious of positions and royal throne and due to disregard of the national issue as drowned in self-centredness. All need to realise this on this day, he added.
Saying that politicians need utilise at least five minutes a day to find out what is invading Manipur and find out how deep we are sunk, the chief minister said, “Let’s do politics as per the position of the society and the state. Because of past mistakes we are in this position. The separate existence of the hills and valley in the state is due to the past mistakes. We should not give chance to create such error in our time.”
“If we cannot save our society when the BJP-led government has given full power to develop the state and the society, it’s better for us to suicide,” he added.
Biren said, “We pay tribute to the heroes of Manipur to honour their sacrifice for the motherland. Let’s work today so that the future generation respect us.”
Saying that BJP struggled hard to built up the party strength in the Nation Biren appealed the ‘dedicated’ BJP members not to take sides when there is controversy among the legislatures of the party and instead to try to mend for solution. “Let’s not destroy the confidence of the people in BJP. Once destroyed it will be hard to come back” said the chief minister.
