Drug worth Rs 160 crore seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 18, 2019: Thoubal district police with the assistance of ANJUMAN volunteers on Saturday morning busted a brown sugar factory in Thoubal district and seized suspected heroin brown sugar that would worth about Rs 160 crores.

The drug factory was found at the residence of one Moijingmayum Md. Muhammed, 41, at Moijing Awang Leikai near a community hall.

The police team seized around 184.64 kg of suspected Heroine brown Sugar. Various items used in the manufacturing the drug including ammonium chloride, lime, equipment and tools were recovered from the factory.

Thoubal police superintendent Dr S. Ibomcha told reporters that Thoubal police has arrested Muhammed and registered a case.

Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said “Our war on drugs continues in full swing to wipe out this menace.”

This is the second time police busted brown sugar factory. On June 29 a team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border, Manipur and Thoubal Police busted a drug factory at Lilong in Thoubal district and seized 111.915 kg of Heroin Brown Sugar that would worth Rs 100 crores.
