WY worth Rs 10 crores seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 24, 2019: Drug seizure has been scaled up in Manipur with yet another seizure of drugs which would worth around Rs 10 crores by Customs Division, Imphal.

The officers of the anti-smuggling unit of the customs division seized 10 kg (1 lakh tablets) Amphetamine tablets marked WY (World is Yours) from the possession of Hefajuddin, 23, son of Riyajuddin, resident of Lilong Haoreibi, Sambrukhong, Lilong sub-division, Thoubal.

Riyajuddin was nabbed on Friday afternoon from Lilong Mairenkhun Makha Leikai, Thoubal
along Imphal-Moreh road.

Superintendent of anti-smuggling unit, Customs Division, Imphal, P.Roben Singh, on Saturday, told reporters that the contraband drug was packed in 10 separate packets, each containing 10, 000 tablets. The packets were found carrying in a green bag.

A case has been under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act’1985. The accused has been arrested under. Further investigation to nab the other offender(s) of the case is going on, said the senior officer.

Two drug peddlers were also arrested with Rs 10 lakhs worth WY (World is Yours) tablets from Kiyamgei by Imphal East narcotic cell on Friday afternoon by Imphal East narcotic cell.
