6 USRA cadres apprehended with arms

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 28, 2019: Troops of Assam Rifles in Manipur under IGAR (South) apprehended six UG cadres of USRA group along with arms and ammunitions in a joint operation with Manipur Police in Imphal on Tuesday.

Based on a specific input of likely presence of some armed UG cadres in Andro, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Imphal East police comamdos established multiple check posts in the area. After carrying out detailed frisking and checking, the joint team apprehendeded five cadres of USRA, said a statement released by Assam Rifles on Wednesday.

The cadres revealed about concealment of weapons in Shoronphai village near Heirokland which they had been utilising for threatening and carrying out extortion activities. The joint team carried out detailed search of the area and recovered weapons and other War Like stores. Other items like uniforms, pouches etc were also recovered from the site. During further search, the sixth cadre was apprehended from the area, it added.

One HK Rifle with two magazines, 36 live rounds of HK Rifle, one 9mm pistol along with one magazine, four live rounds of 9 mm Pistol, 19 live rounds of M-16 Rifle, one Double Barrel Gun with 20 live rounds and one Chinese Hand grenade were recovered from the spot. All the apprehended individuals have been handed over the police for further investigation, the release said.
