Lamlai people caution agitations

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 29, 2019: People of Lamlai have cautioned to launch intensive agitation if the government fails to meet people’s grievances while decrying the local MLA for not raising voice for the welfare of the people in the Assembly session.

People of the constituency have been facing grievances as offices of BDO, SDC, registrar and SDO have been shifted at Porompat DC complex. The former complex has been renovated, but fails to function as the offices has not been brought back. People had also urged the local MLA to re-shift the office complex, said executive member of Sawombung Kabui Khunjao Thougei authority, Kamei Gangumei Kabui during a visit at Sawombung Block Development Officer (BDO) office located at Sawombung, Imphal on Thursday.

Despite several requests the local MLA has deaf ear though he assured to re-shift the office complex. The MLA could have raised voice in the recently concluded two days state assembly session. Instead, he raised voice only for his political purpose, Kamei added.

Kamei said foundation stone of Sawombung bridge was laid on June 3, 2015. During the laying of foundation stone MLA and other ministers who attend the function gave assurance to complete the bridge construction within eight months. The construction is yet to complete, he added.

The government should take necessary steps for the welfare of the people before causing any unwanted incident, he added.
