Five former congress councillors join BJP

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, September 25, 2019: There is no issue of reshuffling among ministers of the BJP-led Manipur government, said chief minister N. Biren Singh on Thursday during a reception ceremony held at the BJP Manipur Pradesh office at Canchipur for five former Congress councillors of Yairipok Municipal Council have joined the BJP on Tuesday.
Biren was responding to a query on a facebook post of governor of Manipur regarding the meeting along with three MLAs with the status “Hon’ble MLAs of Manipur Shri Samuel Jendai, Shri P. Sharatchandra Singh and Shri T. T. Haokip called on me today.” He said there is no internal issue but they just met governor informally.
“The Manipur Congress had been claiming that BJP will be collapsed in the state. BJP will continue to be in power with the achievements of the present BJP led coalition government. It will hold the government again in the next term too,” Biren said.
The five new BJP members, Longjam Kamala, Kongjengbam Ito Singh, Guruaribam Ingocha Sharma, Md. Abdul Khalique and Md. Dilip of ward number 5 were felicitated by chief minister N, Biren Singh.
They joined the party as they trust the party that it will bring a transformation towards a developed state. The former government was only concerned on their party’s benefit despite of bringing welfare for the people. With the coming of Narendra Modi as a new leader people especially the weaker sections have been getting benefits, Biren said.
There are still approaches from MLAs to join the BJP but being a national party the decision has to be taken after consulting the central leaders, Biren told reporters.
Biren said in the short period of BJP led coalition government members from autonomous district council, panchayat, zilla parisad and others have been joining the BJP. With the strong support from the newly joint members and former members the government has been able to get the various achievements which have been carried out for the welfare of the people, he added.
Present government has been bringing various achievements and welfare schemes where former government failed to brought in fifteen years, said Biren. With the cooperation from public the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) has been increased to 8 percent and its revenue has been cross Rs. 1000 crores. In order to get the achievements, the government has been monitoring and rectifying each loop holes since the conception of the present government, he added.
The state has announced as best agricultural product producer in the entire nation which is one of the big achievement of the present BJP led coalition government, Biren said.
