Khelen Thokchom media fellow announced

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 27, 2019: Khelen Thokchom media fellowship for the current year has been awarded to Imphal Free Press reporter Babie Shirin.

The award was announced on the occasion of 59th birth anniversary of late Khelen Thokchom, renowned journalist.

The occasion was observed at Manipur Press Club, here on Sunday.

The fellowship carried a sum of Rs 50, 000. It was provided to encourage reporting with in-dept research on the issue of Water.

Two reporters who got the media fellowship last year on the prospect of cricket in Manipur were felicitated on the occasion.They were Heikrujam Sadananda, a senior sports reporter of Poknapham, a popular vernacular in Manipur and ST Lelen Vaiphei, a reporter of Imphal Free Press.

A booklet of their reports was also released.

Members of Khelen Thokchom Trust, family member of the departed journalist and invitees and journalists paid floral tribute to portrait of Khelen Thokchom.

A talk on water was presented by former director, communication and capacity development unit, PHED, Rajkumar Dilip Singh.

The occasion was attended by IPR director Heisnam Balkrishna, AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and EGM president Khogendra Khomdram among others.
