Old age pension fund for 10, 811 beneficiaries transferred

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 27, 2019: Social welfare department has transferred Manipur Old Age Pension (MOAP) fund for six districts to 10,811 newly selected beneficiaries on Saturday and pension benefits for remaining 10,022 would be transferred as soon as reports from the remaining districts are received.

This was told to reporter by social welfare director, Ng. Uttam Singh in his office chamber.

The step was taken up under the ‘Go to village mission’.

Uttam said, Manipur chief minister (N. Biren Singh) launched “Go to Village” mission on 1st May, 2018 in 60 villages of all the 60 Assembly Constituencies in the state. As part of the mission, the department of social welfare has issued forms for different beneficiary oriented schemes to eligible and deserving beneficiaries residing at every corner of the state by the concerned nodal officers of the department.

During the mission, a total of 25,312 application forms have been received for availing benefit under Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme till June, 2019, out of which 20833 beneficiaries were identified from the application form received as on 9th May, 2019 through the mission and 4479 applicants have been left out due to non availability of adequate fund, he said. He maintained that remaining applicants will be considered after due availability of vacancy arising from time to time.

He said in compliance of the instruction issued by government all the district social welfare officers have been directed to communicate with the concerned MLAs to confirm the genuine of the beneficiaries under “Go to Village” programme. The department directed DSWOs concerned to furnish the reports on or before September 10 after due communication with the concerned MLAS for taking necessary action.

The director urged the beneficiaries to maintain same name and address in Bank account/Pass Book, Aadhar card and voter identity card since they are all linked.

The MOAP amount transferred was for six months of the current Financial year, i.e, till  August, 2019  Rs 1200/- each at the rate Rs 200 per month. Documents related to MOAP were also handed over to the bank official during the press briefing.
