Biren greets Manipur people on Ningol Chakkouba

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 29, 2019: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has greeted people of the state on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba, one of the biggest festivals of the state.

Biren in his greetings said the festival celebrates the unbreakable bond of love between brothers and sisters, which reinforce the parental care and affection for married daughters.

Though the festival is originally observed by the Meitei community, it is now extended to other communities in Manipur. It promotes the feeling of harmonious social life by indulging in partaking of common feasts, gifting and blessings, he added.

“Let us imbibe the ideals of this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives,” the chief minister said.

Ministers L. Jayantakumar Singh, Th.Biswajit Singh and Th.Shyamkumar also greet the people on the occasion.

Major general K P Singh, YSM, IG AR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles extend warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion expressing hope that the festival will herald an era of progress and prosperity in the region and promote unity, integrity and peaceful coexistence of all communities in the state.
