Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 30, 2019: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said Manipur Sangai Festival has now become an International Festival as it attracts various foreign entrepreneurs and tourists to participate in the festival.
Biren graced the 3rd Women Football exhibition match played between India (Manipur) and Myanmar (Mandalay) as Chief Guest at Mapal Kangjeibung on Saturday.
Manipur Sangai Festival is not just a mere festival but showcases the unique ‘beauty’ of the state, he said and appealed to the people of the state to make the festival a successful one. He maintained that after considering the public demand for the Sangai festival, the state Cabinet decided to extend the festival for two days.
The Imphal-Mandalay chartered flight service has been started to strengthen the friendly relations between India and Myanmar. The state government is persuading the Centre for a regular Imphal-Mandalay flight service soon, he added.
MLA Y. Surchandra, director, ministry of health and sports, Mandalay, U. Myint Aung, state level Committee for Actualisation of Act East Policy Convenor R.K. Shivachandra, head coach, Sagiang Region U. Maung Maung were present during the function.
