Brown Sugar factories busted, over 41 kg Brown Sugar seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 3, 2019: Manipur Police with Assam rifles busted a Brown Sugar plants running at two residences at Sada Khumbi village in Thoubal district and seized 41.293 kg of Heroin Brown Sugar and10 liters of morphinated liquid along with production materials.

The mission was conducted by a team of Thoubal district police comprising of additional superintendent of police (operations) Sachidananda Soibam, additional superintendent of police (L & O) Th. Deshorjit Singh, inspector N. Sadananda Singh, inspector K. Premkumar Margang and a column of 26 AR led by Major Vikash Rana of Chandrakhong COB, F-Coy under the supervision of superintendent of police Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh.

Ibomcha on Tuesday said on Monday at about 2 pm, acting on information of running of an illegal Heroin (Brown Sugar) manufacturing laboratory at the residence of Ningkhangam Awungshi, 39, son of (Late) Sangchuti Awungshi of Sada Khumbi village which is under Nongpok Sekmai Police station, the combined team with necessary equipment rushed immediately towards the residence of Ningkhangam. On searching the house the police team found two large plastic sacks containing suspected contraband Heroin (Brown sugar) and items which are used in manufacturing the contraband drugs items.

One sack marked “Hasina Man Jayegea followed by Kanniya Tracing company” contained 14.316 kg of suspected brown sugar and the other sack marked “white crystal sugar” contained 26.305 kg of suspected brown sugar, he added.

The team also four rubber hand gloves, one white cloth, 127 empty tobacco cane, one triple khagi colour, two wooden pressing board machines, and three plastic sheets

On the follow up action, from the disclosure of Ningkhangam the combined team including FSL, Pangei team rushed to the house of Wungreingam Awungshi, 45, son of (Late) Shangchuti Awungshi of Sada Khumbi village. On searching the residence and surrourding the police team found two polythene bags containing suspected contraband Heroin (Brown sugar) from the back side of the house and items which are used in manufacturing the contraband drugs items.

The team recovered 502 grams and 170 grams of Brown Sugar, one lime bag marked as Star Brand lime, weighing 9.536 kg with plastic, one wooden pressing board, one water container (brite), one bottle of Ammonium Chloride, weighing 50 gm, three camouflage bag, one plastic Jerrycane of 20 litres capacity cortaining 10 liters of morphinated liquid and Rs 2.8 lakh in cash suspected to be proceeds of sale of Heroin Brown sugar.

Ningkhangam Awungshi  and Wungreingam Awungshi have been arrested.

The IGP (Zone-l), Manipur Clay Khongsai, and DIGP (Rang-II) Manipur, K. Kabib directly monitored and supervised during the operation, Ibomcha said.
