MANPAC to meet Amit Shah on Tuesday on CAB

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 3, 2019: Manipur People against Citizenship Amendment Bill (MANPAC) members will meet Union homeminister, Amit Shah in Delhi on Tuesday at 10: 30 pm to discuss over the Citizenship  (Amendment) Bill (CAB).

Amity Shah sent formal invitation to MANPAC on Monday morning, convenor of MANPAC, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar told reporters here on Monday.

He said while a team pf MANPAC met chief minister N. Biren Singh on Sunday at CM’s secretariat, Biren gave his verbal assurance that state government will urge the union home minister to send formal invitation for a meeting regarding CAB with MANPAC.

Before the representatives of MANPAC depart for Delhi, they will gather at Khwairamband Ima market and will seek blessings from the  women of the market who are regarded as mothers.

Demand of MANPAC is firm that ‘no to CAB and not to extend CAB in north eastern statesincluding Manipur’ MANPAC will never compromise with any alternative steps withstate and central government on the issue of CAB. The demand of MANPAC with supportfrom people of Manipur is indigenous people and land of Manipur must be protected, he added.

MANPAC will place the Union home minister that people of Manipur are waiting for a legitimate result for the meeting by lighting candles, Dilipkumar added.

Nine members of committee will depart for Delhi on Tuesday from Imphal International Airport at 1.30 pm.
