MANPAC suspends total shutdown strike, AMSU to sustain strike

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 9, 2019: Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill  (MANPAC) has suspended its total shut down strike, that was imposed on Tuesday, following the announcement of the Union home minister Amit Shah in the Parliament to extend Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in Manipur.

Manpac convenor Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said the strike is suspended as the Union minister has announced that ILP system will be extended in Manipur and that CAB will not cover Manipur.

However an emergency review meeting will be held on Tuesday at AMUCO office, Kwakeithel, here to discuss over the issue, Dilipkumar said. He appealed to the people to participate in the meeting and share their opinions.

All Manipur Students’ Union appealed to the people to support the shutdown strike of Tuesday. It said it welcome the extension of ILP system in Manipur. However, ILP cannot be compromised with Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
