Lok Adalat held

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 14, 2019: Under the guidelines of the National Legal Services Authority, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) on Saturday organised the 4th National Lok Adalat for the year 2019 at Lamphelpat Court Complex for the districts of Imphal East and Imphal West.

Various pending cases before the courts as well as pre-litigation cases are taken up in the said National Lok Adalat for amicable settlement.

National Lok Adalat was also organised at Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tengnoupal and Jiribam districts by the concerned District Legal Services Authorities.

In the National Lok Adalat held for Manipur, total number of 349 cases were disposed of with total settled amount of Rs. 1,92,98,691. The settled cases comprises of bank and telephone bill recovery matters, Criminal compoundable cases, Civil cases, Family Court cases, Moto Accident Claims Tribunal cases etc.

It is to be mentioned that this is the last National Lok Adalat for the year, 2019 as per the Calendar prescribed by National Legal Services Authority.

During the year, 2019, Manipur State Legal Services Authority organised a total of 4 National Lok Adalats in which a total number of 2103 cases were settled and disposed of through negotiation with total settlement amount of Rs. 11,55,15,982.

Lok Adalat ensures speedy disposal by amicable settlement between the parties. It saves valuable time of the parties and their witnesses and also facilitates inexpensive and prompt remedy appropriately to the satisfaction of both the parties.
