Manipur RD and PR department bags eight national awards
Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 14, 2019: Department of rural development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Manipur bags eight national awards in various categories in recognition of outstanding performance in implementation of various rural development programmes for the year 2019-20.
The ministry of rural development, department of rural development, Government of India has recommended the Rural Engineering Department (RED), Manipur for outstanding efforts in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Manipur.
The State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Manipur under Directorate of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Manipur is selected as Best Performing SIRD in North East and Himalayan Region for imparting the highest number of training programmes as well as providing training to highest number of trainees. In the implementation of MGNREGA, Moreh block under Chandel district as per rural development administration but physically under Tengnoupal district secures the 2nd best block in the country for timely payment of wages and Thorcham village under Chakpikarong block of Chandel district as the best performing Gram Panchayat / village authority (hills). In the implementation of rural housing scheme particularly Pradhan Mantri Awaj Yojana (Gramin), Chandel district is ranked as the best district in the category of one thousand houses target.
The MORD also announced individual awards to field functionaries who are actively involved in successful implementation of rural housing scheme. Amom Bina Devi, Pradhan of Wangoo Gram Panchayat in Moirang block of Bishnupur district is recommended for the award to the best Gram Pradhan/Mukhiya category. Wahengbam Bimolchand Singh, Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) of Directorate of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Manipur who is currently posted in Moirang block of Bishnupur district is also selected as the best village development official in recognition of his untiring efforts in successful implementation of PMAY(G) in Wangoo Gram Panchayat.
Th. Biswajit Singh, Minister (RD&PR), Manipur has expressed jubilations on the achievements of department of rural development and Panchayati Raj, Manipur at the national level. He lauded the efforts of officials and elected representatives who have contributed outstandingly for rural development of the state.
The annual awards will be distributed to the recipients by Narendra Singh Tomar, Union minister of rural development and Panchayati Raj on December 19 at New Delhi.
