AR celebrates Christmas with children

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 25, 2019: Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated Christmas with children of Tabitha Children Home on Wednesday.

The event commenced with melodious Christmas carols sung by children along with prayers for peace and harmony in Manipur. As part of the event, a gift distribution ceremony was conducted by Assam Rifles in which sports equipments, stationery items and utility hampers containing daily use items and eatables were given to the children.

The children home was assured of every possible help in future to make the place a beautiful home away from home. The program concluded with Christmas cake cutting and refreshments for all.

Similarly, Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles organised a Christmas celebration at border village Chongjhang on the same day.

The event commenced in the morning with a welcome speech by the Company Commander to convey the wishes of Christmas to all the villagers. People from the village sang songs and enjoyed dancing on the traditional tunes and Christmas rhymes. Sweets and balloons were also distributed to the children of the village.

The event was widely appreciated by children home administration, village-chief and secretary expressed gratitude for the continuous contribution of Assam Rifles for not only being part of celebration but also in maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
