JNIMS opens special OPD on tobacco and cannabis addiction treatment

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 27, 2020: A special outpatient department (OPD) on tobacco/ nicotine addiction treatment, Ganja /cannabis addiction treatment was opened on Thursday at the Psychiatry OPD of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, here.

The special OPD was opened by the institute director, Dr. Th. Bhimo.

As resource person Dr. Nelson loitongbam spoke on the increase in tobacco addiction in Manipur which was about  20.6%. The common people do not think of tobacco as a form of substance abuse until it is too late, they are also not aware that there are treatments available, he said.

The special OPD will be opened on every working Thursday from 11am to 2pm. Alcohol deaddiction services are also available in the same OPD.
