Manipur’s Kangpokpi gets teachers’ college


Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 29, 2020: Manipur education minister Thokchom Radheshyam inaugurated T. C. College of Teachers’ Education and Social Work at Kangpokpi dustrict on Saturday in presence of social work and co-operation mnister Nemcha Kipgen and chairman, ADC, Sadar Hills, Haokholal Hangshing.

It is a proud moment for the district that a college for teachers’ training institute and social work is established. It will benefit teachers and student alike. The college will help in providing teachers education to those who want to pursue teaching as professions, the education minister said.

In both the government and private schools of the hill districts the biggest problem is the shortage of qualified teachers. The institution will help in addressing the issue of lack of trained teachers, he added.

Radheshyam urged the students to make the best use of the training to acquire the professional knowledge.

Nemcha said training for teachers has therefore been made mandatory by the government. If teachers’ education facilities are open in all the districts then a huge change can be brought in the education sector.

She also expressed that the introduction of Social work in the college will help in understanding the society and makes it better.
