Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 30, 2020: Under the chairmanship of education minister Dr Thokchom Radheshyam Singh` (MLA of Heirok A/C) formed Relief Committee Against Covid-19, Heirok Kendra to counter the hardship face by the general public of Heirok Kendra during the total Lockdown period in the state to contain the spread of the pandemic Covid-19 among the general public.
This committee consists of elected persons, social workers and well wishers of Heirok Kendra.
“It has decided to distribute essential commodities and extend support to the needy people during the lockdown period,” a statement released by the committee on Monday.
The committee thanked the present government and concerned consumer affairs, food and public distribution department for distributing food grains (rice) at free of cost to the general public.
The committee will follow the precautionary guidelines issued by the hovernment and experts while functioning and distributing essential commodities, the statement said.
The committee decided to open a corpus fund and the individuals/clubs/organizations are invited to contribute in the corpus fund so that the committee can extend its support uninterruptedly to the needy people.
The individuals/clubs/organizations having willingness to contribute in the Corpus Fund of this committee may use the account number 50200039666719 IFSC Code: HDFC0001999, it said.
Every contribution and expenditure will be updated openly, it added.
The committee appeals the general public to maintain proper hygiene, wash hands regularly and maintain social distancing to defeat the viral desease.
