Manipur Police apprehends 354 COVID-19 lockdown violators

Imphal: Manipur Police on Monday detained 354 persons who violated curfew and lockdown imposed in wake of COVID-19 outbreak.

In Imphal West, 168 persons were apprehended and produced before Executive Magistrates by registering 18 non-FIR cases at different police stations of Imphal West for violating the total lockdown.

A sum of Rs. 9,800 was imposed as fines and a total of 143 vehicles were also detained.

Churachandpur Police apprehended 56 and after due verification has released on PR bond by registering non FIR cases for violating the total lockdown. A total of 39 vehicles were also detained.

Churachandpur police also requested to extend cooperation by not venturing out unnecessarily and advised the public to obtain pass from the competent authority and informed that vehicles, except those of government, medical and essential services including the Press are not allowed.

Thoubal Police detained 130 violators of curfew and total lockdown. Nine were detained in Thoubal Police station, 61 at Lilong Police station, 18 at Yairipok Police station, 14 at Khongjom Police station, 15 at Heirok Police station and 13 at Nongpok Sekmai Police station.

The violators were produced to the Executive Magistrates concerned. Thirty vehicles were imposed a sum of Rs. 4,000 as fines.
