One Nizamuddin event attendee tested COVID-19 positive in Manipur


Pothashang News Service: April 2, 2020: A 65 year old man from Lilong who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat event at Delhi’s Nizamuddin have tested positive for COVID-19. Manipur now has 2 COVID-19 positive cases.

Confirming the report, a press statement by COVID-19 Common Control Room, Government of Manipur said that the patient is currently undergoing treatment at RIMS. Appropriate containment measures and surveillance activities have also been taken up at the patient’s locality, the statement said.

Earlier, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has also tweeted about the development on his tweeter handle.

Arunachal Pradesh has also reported its first COVID-19 case today and it is reported that the person had also attended Tablighi Jamaat event.

While in Assam three persons tested positive for Covid-19 in Goalpara district on Thursday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 16. Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said all the patients had attended the religious congregation at Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Delhi’s Nizamuddin earlier this month.
