Lilong family negative for COVID-19

Pothashang News Service: Imphal April 4, 2020: Result of the 11 family members of Lilong COVID-19 patient who were tested for COVID-19 at RIMS turn out negative. Sources from RIMS said the patient’s wife and his 10 children were tested for COVID-19 and their result turn out negative.

The Lilong COVID-19 patient was one of the 10 persons from Manipur who had attended Tablighi Jamaat Markaz at Nizamuddin in Delhi, which has become COVID-19 spreader in India. According to union health ministry 647 COVID-19 positive cases linked to Tablighi Jamaat congregation held in Nizamuddin were registered during the 24 hours period from Thursday evening to Friday evening. As per the ministry, India has 2322 active COVID-19 cases and registered 62 deaths.

It may be mentioned that COVID-19 test of 18 staff of Peace Hospital and Research Institute, Porompat were also negative. They were tested for COVID-19 after they had contacts with COVID-19 positive person from Lilong during his treatment at the hospital from 20 to 22 March.

Meanwhile, three kilometer radius from the house of Lilong COVID-19 patient was put under confinement by Thoubal district authorities. In this regard, DC Thoubal had issued an order on 2nd April putting an area in Lilong sealed from Jama Majid Road in north to Ngangou Road/Buya Salam Road in the south and NH 102 on the east to Imphal River on the west.
