Minister Nemcha announces ex-gratia of Rs 500 for NSAP pensioners

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 08, 2020: Manipur social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen on Wednesday announced that ex-gratia of Rs 500 under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) will be disbursed for the beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) to help them fight the battle against Covid-19.

The funds will be released through Direct Benefit Transfers to the respective bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

To combat the economic impact on the poor and needy during this lockdown period, PM Narendra Modi led government on 26 March, 2020 announced ‘Relief Package’ of Rs 1.7 lakh crore under PMGKY. The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was launched by the Government of India in 2016.

The minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for such initiative for the poor and needy at this critical juncture.
