Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam visits Thoubal and Kakching districts

Imphal, April 12, 2020 (DIPR): Education, Labour and Employment, Minister, Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam visited, Thoubal and Kakching District on 11th April 2020 to take stock of measures taken up by the district administration in both the districts to control the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Minister, who is also the in-charge for Thoubal and Kakching, held meetings with the Deputy Commissioners of Thoubal and Kaching, Smt. N. Bandana Devi, Valentina Arambam Superintendents of Police, of both districts, Victoria Yengkhom, Dr. S. Ibomcha Singh, Chief Medical Officers, fire Services and all essential service providers respectively at their respective headquarters of the two districts for assessment of the groundwork. During the meeting he welcomed views, suggestions and future plans in the event of the lockdown being extended or lifted.

Appreciating the works undertaken by the District Administration, Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam requested the officials to continue the movement surveillance of the public as it is necessary to abide the norms of lockdown to break the chain of infection and control the spread of coronavirus disease COVID-19.

He expressed that majority of the inhabitants of both the districts are either engaged in agriculture sector or are daily wage earners. Therefore, there is a need for a monitored movement of the people within the villages as they attend their farms and fields.

The Minister also requested to prepare data of students stranded in different parts of the country in view of their return and preparation of adequate places for isolation. He also sought the support of the elected local representatives, youth organisations and local clubs and urged to extend their cooperation in carrying out the services of the government in this time of crisis.

Both the DCs and the law enforcing agencies also expressed their opinions concerning the management of the opening of grocery shops, oil pumps, and other essential services in the districts as base on the situation and requirements of the areas. (DIPR)
