First Covid-19 positive person in Manipur discharged from hospital 

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, 12 April, 2020: The first Covid-19 positive patient of Manipur is now fully cured and discharged on Sunday from Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) hospital, said a statement released from Manipur Covid-19 control room.

quarantine for the next 14 days, it said.

Her family members, especially the father were counseled by a team led by the state surveillance officer and the guidelines for home quarantine were also handed over to them, additional director and spokeperson, health department, Manipur said.

The 23 years old girl from Imphal was tested positive for Covid-19 on March 24 after coming back from England. Since then she had been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Health minister L. Jayantakumar on April 6 said she was completely free from the virus.

“Thank God, thanks to the staff of JNIMS. The first Covid-19 infected girl has been discharged. Let’s stay safe, let’s stay at home,” chief minister Biren Singh said on his Facebook post.

Nineteen close contacts of the person from Moreh who was diagnosed and treated for Covid-19 at Bengaluru were tested at the

VRDL, RIMS and all were negative. He left the state on the March 12 and tested at Bengaluru on the April 8, Manipur Covid-19 control room release said.
