Biren appeals to stop trading tobacco products and drugs

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 18, 2020: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has strongly urged traders to stop tobacco and drug business.

Biren asked why people are doing business on health hazardous items?

Following police seizure of chewing betel packets  (Talab) and tobacco on Friday from Lilong the chief minister asked, “How much money you people want? Can we protect ourselves by money from Covid-19?”

Urging to love human beings and others Biren on his Facebook post said, “Please stop such business like drugs too.”

A team of Lilong Police on Friday evening seized 33,000 pieces of Talab and T-5 chewing tobacco each from the possession of one Md. Habibur, 60,  son of late Md. Azizullah of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Ubakthong Mathak, at Lilong Bazar while carrying the tobacco products in a Maruti A star car bearing registration number MN06 LA 1170.

Necessary legal formalities has been initiated by the police.
