Second Covid-19 patient of Manipur tests negative

Imphal, April 18: The second Covid-19 case of the state has tested negative of the disease on Saturday.

He was being treated at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.

He was tested at VRDLS of RIMS and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal and he has become negative, Manipur Covid-19 Control room said in a press release on Saturday.

He is likely to be discharged soon, if the next test result is negative, it added.

Manipur recorded two positive cases of the desease. The first Covid-19 patient was cured recently.

The state Covid-19 Control room said the public may, as usual avail the emergency and casualty services of the government hospitals in the state. They can also avail the dialysis

services in RIMS and JNIMS hospitals. Authorities of RIMS and JNIMS had been instructed not to curtail emergency services.

However, the public is advised to avoid non-essential visits to the hospitals, it added.

The chief secretary, in a review meeting held at conference hall, Manipur Secretariat, on Saturday appreciated the efforts of the state health department and advised to ramp up the Quarantine Facilities and Testing Capabilities.
