87 stranded Manipuris reach Imphal

Imphal: Altogether 87 Manipuris stranded at Guwahati due to nationwide lockdown reached Imphal on Saturday afternoon. They were first batch of people who have been brought back from other states by Manipur government after the nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Manipur government is making all efforts to bring back Manipuris stranded in other parts of the country due to lockdown. They were brought back in 4 buses maintaining strict norms of social distancing even inside the buses. They went through initial medical check-up at Mao gate.

State health and family welfare minister L. Jayentakumar Singh welcomed them at Imphal Valley Academy, Ghari. They will be put under mandatory 14 days quarantine there.
