Manipur Police detained 875 Covid-19 lockdown violators

Imphal: In continuation of Manipur police drive to crack down on violators of lockdown, not wearing face mask in public, not maintaining social distancing to prevent the Covid-19 spread 875 persons were detained and 831 vehicles were challaned for various violations on Friday.

The violators were imposed fines of Rs 1,29,550.

Among them 267 violators were detained in Thoubal district and fined a sum of Rs 39, 550, and In Bishnupur 253 were detained imposing fines of Rs 32, 800.

The police department warns that those who violates the lockdown shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act. 2005.
