Stranded Manipuri to reach Jiribam; Quarantine procedures to be implemented: HM


Imphal (DIPR): Health Minister, Manipur L. Jayantakumar, in a press meet held at his office conference hall at Secretariat, South Block, along with officials of health department said that the people of Manipur who have started their journey back home from Chennai and from other places of the country in special trains will be reaching Jiribam within a day or two.

Minister in the press conference said that after the passengers reached Jiribam, they will be screened for COVID-19 to detect whether they are symptomatic or asymptomatic. Thereafter, they will be sent to institutional quarantine centres or community quarantine centres for self quarantine as decided by the health department experts.

Minister Jayantakumar also asserted that there may be some mismanagement arising out of miscommunication between home department, health department and disaster management regarding the registration and transportation of stranded Manipuri at various parts of the country. It arises especially due lack of adequate how-to knowledge to register themselves in the respective states through where they are to pass through, Minister added.

Considering the consequences in health of the general public, Minister added that an opportunity regarding a donation of medical equipment which is of foreign origin for detection and virucidal capability for different Virus strands is under consideration and the medical equipment is being examined for its pros and cons by the health experts before properly making functional in the State.
