1141 stranded Manipuris reached Jiribam

Imphal: Altogether 1141 Manipuris stranded in Tamil Nadu due to COVID-19 lockdown reached Manipur’s Jiribam railway station on Wednesday. They will further head to their respective districts and assembly constituencies by road.

Upon reaching their destinations, they will be put under mandatory 14 days quarantine at institutional and community quarantine centres.
It may be mentioned that the train carrying stranded Manipuris started the journey from Chennai on Sunday May 10.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also took to Facebook to break the news along with collage of photographs of rail reaching Jiribam station, COVID-19 response team and people de-boarding the train.

CM posted “1141 stranded Manipuris have reached Jiribam Railway station from Chennai by a special train at around 12.20 pm today.

Manipur Government has started sending them to their respective districts and Assembly Constituencies for compulsory screening and testing under COVID-19 Protocol and a 14 days quarantine at designated institutional and community quarantine centres across the State”.
