COVID-19 test capacity in Manipur increased


Imphal: The capacity for testing of COVID-19 has substantially increased to about 200 per day during the last few days, Manipur COVID-19 common control room said in a press release on Saturday.

This is made possible with the introduction of “pool testing” method, the release said.

In addition to this, RIMS and JNIMS have installed “Truenat” machines for testing COVID-19. This will further enhance the testing capаcity, it added.

Till date, 1900 samples have been tested. Only 4 samples are positive. The fourth positive (confirmed on Friday) is a nursing professional returning from Kolkata. She is now admitted in JNIMS. The third positive is also undergoing treatment at JNIMS. Their conditions are stable, the control room said.

All close contacts of these two active cases are under close surveillance and all other necessary precautionary measures are put in place, it added.
