DIC liquor, ingredients seized amid COVID-19 lockdown

Imphal: Meirapaibi of Laipham Khunou and Sangakpham seized huge ingredients for manufacturing local liquors along with 10 litres of distilled indigenous country (DIC) liquor on Saturday evening at Sangakpham area.

The ingredients would worth about Rs 10,000.

Secretary of LKYDA Club, Ngasepam Rakeshwor, told reporters that it is not a good sign to sell and buy liquors during COVID-19 lockdown.

He warned that if any individual is found selling or drinking local liquor from vendors, necessary legal action will be taken up after consulting with concerned authority.

In the last few days the club had intercepted some individuals who were in home quarantine having local liquors in some local liquor vendors. The individuals were handed over to quarantine centres after informing the authority concerned, he said.

Rakeshwor warned that if any individual is found guilty against the guidelines announced by the club, necessary legal action will be taken against the individual.
