Chennai returnees leave Jiribam


Imphal: At least 1607 people including 40 infants who had reached Jiribam on Saturday from Chenbai left Jiribam on Sunday to their respective districts after necessary protocols for COVID-19.

Those who left Jiribam in special buses were 243 from Ukhrul, 47 from Tengnoupal and Chandel districts, 77 from Kamjong district, 205 from Pherzawl and Churachandupur districts, 80 from Imphal East, 84 from Kangpokpi, 226 from Senapati district, 54 from Kakching and Toubal districts, 185 Tamenglong district, 84 from Noney district, 103 from Bishnupur district and 219 from Imphal West district. Forty eight (48) buses were utilised to ferry them from Jiribam to their respective districts.

It may be mentioned that the train from Chennai carrying 1607 Manipuris reached Jiribam Railway Station at 11:35 am on Saturday.

At the Jiribam Railway Station, all the returnees were screened by the authorities. The returnees boarded the buses after undergoing necessary screening process and following social distancing norms under the supervision of the Jiribam District Administration. They all will remain in isolation at the community quarantine centres for 14 days.
