Funds for 2nd installment for NSAP pensioners released

Imphal: Social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen on Tuesday announced that funds for 2nd Installment of ex-gratia of Rs 500 under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) have disbursed on the same day for the beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS) and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) as an assistance to the underpriviledged in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing nationwide lockdown.

Nemcha informed that a sum of Rs 309.87 lakh was received from the ministry of rural development as 2nd installment of central share for  ex-gratia payment of Rs 500 under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana.  Out of the total amount received, Rs 277.93 Lakh are allotted for 55,585 beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme(IGNOAPS), Rs 26.90 Lakh are allotted for 5380 beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme(IGNWPS) and Rs 5.04 Lakh are allotted for 1007 beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme(IGNDPS), she said.

​The amount has been directly transferred to the beneficiaries account through DBT using PFMS to help them fight the battle against Corona virus.

Nemcha expressed profound gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for such initiative for the poor and needy during this pandemic, a DIPR release said.
